My work is an example of the kinds of things I wish to see in the world embodied through excited and sometimes overworked materials. With paint it’s possible for hybrid moments of chaos and control to be suspended indefinitely. Marks and brushstrokes can accumulate and converge within dynamic compositions. Artistic and stylistic references can emerge and dissolve within the same picture. Multiple layers of spatial distortions and techniques that are both familiar and strange coexist within a painted mindscape. I invite the viewer to discover imagery beneath layered materials and processes as they move throughout the imaginary space. Successful paintings may be the balanced result of elusive imagery that I intermittently control. And other times my purpose is to reveal illustrations of what I want the viewer to uncover and ultimately understand.
